On March 18, Dan Barker debated Christian apologist Nick Peters on the topic “Does God Exist?” at the University of North Georgia in Gainesville. The event was organized by The Atheist Nighthawks (a chapter of the Secular Student Alliance) and co-sponsored by Baptist Christian Ministries. There were nearly 200 people in the audience, including many FFRF supporters. The organizer told Barker it was the largest event on campus he could remember. On March 1, Dan Barker was in Soldotna, Alaska, to speak with the Last Frontier Freethinkers, which successfully sued the Kenai Borough to allow nontheistic invocations. On the far left is FFRF Member Julie Olsen of Anchorage, who organized all five Alaska events.

Barker spoke on March 7 at the University of Texas, Arlington, about his story as a former minister and “The Battle of Church and State” in front of a lively crowd of students and local FFRF members. Dan Barker spoke to the Secular Student Alliance group at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene on March 5. Barker traveled extensively in February and March, speaking at 15 events in 10 cities (and eight states).

Following a leadership meeting the weekend of Feb. 8 and 9 hosted by the Secular Coalition for America, a number of representatives of various secular organizations visited Capitol Hill on Feb. 10.
