FFRF thanks Carol Stoddard of Idaho for creating and donating these unique needlepoint tissue box covers for the FFRF office.

I realize this subject is only tangent to the purview of FFRF, but I thought members would get an eye-rolling, heavy sigh of amusement from it. The ad (see photo) had has been published more than once in such magazines as Archeology, Smithsonian and AARP Bulletin. I wrote letters to each when I first saw these ads. The Smithsonian was the only one to respond, saying it relied on advertisers to help with publishing costs. (No kidding!) They ignored the point of my letter, which was the sexism inherent in the ad. I am currently reading Women Without Superstition (edited by Annie Laurie Gaylor) and have noticed that religion led most of these women to feminism and atheism. I have been a nonbeliever since fifth grade. I am 72 now and tired of fighting. Thank you FFRF for fighting for me. Judith L. Smith Nebraska

On May 2, about 20 atheists joined the Reason Station’s protest of the Warren, Mich., National Day of Prayer event. After a short time, the police approached the protesters and told them that hand-held signs were not allowed in the City Hall atrium. They were told that if they wanted to display their signs, they would have to move outside the building (where the signs could still be seen through the glass front wall). Later the protesters were told they would have to move across the street, which they refused to do. Member Douglas Marshall succesfully sued (along with FFRF, ACLU and AU) in the past to ensure his right to have the Reason Station to counter the Prayer Station in City Hall.
