FFRF chapter updates (September 2026)
Upstate New York Freethinkers
Only in its third year, Upstate New York Freethinkers is already one of FFRF’s largest chapters, serving seven regions and 13 cities. With Pride season concluded, we are already planning chapter participation in 2027.
On the third weekend of September, FFRF members will join American Humanist Association sponsors and atheist partners at our 3rd Annual Freethinkers Gathering in Albany. All are welcome for Saturday’s optional dinner, Sunday’s hot buffet and a museum program featuring speaker Jeff Ingersoll and keynotes David Hoffman and FFRF Governmental Affairs Director Mark Dann, with author/columnist Kate Cohen introducing them. Get tickets ($85) before they sell out: unyft.org/GO.
Expanding pilot meetups beyond Western New York, a new Watertown café connection will open up North Country gatherings. RSVP or host a café: unyft.org/REGIONS.

San Francisco Bay Chapter
Every Wednesday, 1,300 people receive bags of groceries from Sunnyvale Community Services (SCS), whose mission is to prevent homelessness and hunger in their community. Three times a week, unhoused people come to gather food and toiletries.
The San Francisco Bay Chapter’s 2026 Charitable Grant of $1,000 has gone to support SCS and its 52 employees and 500 volunteers who provide these humanitarian services.
Like FFRF, Sunnyvale Community Services has earned a perfect four-star rating on Charity Navigator. We’re delighted to support the critical work of this well-run organization with this year’s generous grant from FFRF.
Ozarks Chapter
The Ozarks Chapter of FFRF was proud to kick off its 2026 Secular Speaker Series on July 18 with FFRF Senior Litigation Counsel Sam Grover.
Attendees learned how Christian nationalism is shaping public policy in Arkansas and how FFRF is fighting back through litigation to defend the constitutional separation of church and state. The program also featured three plaintiffs who shared their personal experiences and explained why they chose to speak out against the introduction of religion into Arkansas public schools.
Grand Rapids Area Freethinkers
Grand Rapids Area Freethinkers joined other area organizations to sponsor the Unfinished Freedom Music Festival hosted by several Indivisible groups in the area. GRAF collaborated with Christians Against Christian Nationalism-MN and HumanistsMN to promote our organizations.
